Golf Tips For Beginners - 3 Tips to Get You Started on the Right Track

By Matthew Lord

Golf can be a frustrating game, especially when you are first starting out. I remember I started playing about 8 years ago and really did not know what I was doing! I did not have much direction so I wanted to provide golf tips for beginners that could improve your game quickly and easily. Practicing the right drills will improve your game more than you can imagine, and is much better than practicing without a purpose, so here are three tips that can help you improve your golf game even if you just started playing.

1. When you go to the driving range make sure that you check your grip, stance, and alignment. These three factors are crucial to playing good golf on a consistent basis. Your grip should have three knuckles showing on the left hand, and you should grip the club with your right hand where the pads of your hand meets your fingers. Your stance should be shoulder width apart with a little bit of knee flex, and you should make sure that you are lined up with your shoulders and hips square to the target.

2. If you want to get better at golf fast, then you need to improve your putting. The easiest way to do this is to putt using your shoulders, which means that you should take your hands and arms out of the stroke and simply rock your shoulders. This motion promotes more consistent contact, and you can really get a feel for how distance control and how certain putts should be stroked. This is one of the best golf tips for beginners because putting is so vital to success.

3. Last but not least you need to work on your chipping. This part of your game is often referred to as the "short game" and it is vital that you master this in order to shoot lower scores. When chipping do not pull out your sand wedge or lob wedge and try to hit the ball high. When you are close to the green try to chip with a 7 or 8 iron and keep the ball low to the ground and get it running as soon as possible. This will improve your distance control and encourage solid contact.

These golf tips for beginners should help you improve your game in no time, so go practice the fundamentals and you will improve quickly!

9 Golf Tips For Every Part of Your Game

By Max X. Johnson

Are you looking for golf tips for every part of your golf game? If so, then you are in the right place. We are going to give you 3 golf tips on how to hit better drives, 3 golf tips on how to hit better irons and 3 golf tips on how to hit better chip shots.

3 Golf Tips on How to Hit Better Drives

Everyone is in love with the fact of trying to get as much distance as they can from their driver. Some players are even obsessed to the point, it hurts their scores. A test with tour players was done years ago on this subject. They had them hit their drive. If it was in the fairway, fine. If it was in the rough, they had them play that ball. In addition, they put in play another ball that was in the fairway but thirty yards behind their tee shot in the rough. Believe it or not, these players scored better from the fairway thirty yards behind the original ball in the rough! That proves how important hitting it in the fairway is for all of us. Here is how you can hit better drives:

1. Make sure your ball position is correct. Many amateurs play their driver to far forward in their stance in an attempt to help the ball in the air.

2. Use a full swing but only swing 80%. This means if a full swing is normally 100mph then you are looking to stay in balance and swing at 80mph.

3. Make sure that you have the correct shaft in your driver. Many players have pre-conceived ideas that they need to hit a certain flex shaft. I would make my decision more strictly based on the ball flight.

3 Golf Tips on How to Hit Better Irons

Many players do not believe that they can improve their iron play by slowing down and making sure they have the proper club in their hand. Remember the closer that you are able to hit your irons the shorter your putts will be and then you will look like a better putter! Improve how you hit your irons with these 3 tips:

1. As simple as it sounds most players do not know the average distance that they hit each golf club. The key word here is average. How long you hit your seven-iron one time (downhill and downwind) simply does not matter. I would rather brag about the low score I shot after the round than the long seven-iron that I hit on the eighth hole!

2. Take the time while you are on the golf course to find the yardage to the front and back of the green as well as the distance to the hole.

3. Choose the club that allows you to make a full swing. This takes away many variables that can go wrong during your swing.

3 Golf Tips on How to Improve Your Chip Shots

Improving your short game and your chip shots is the quickest way to lower your scores behind improving your putting. Many players do not practice it as much because it is not as glamorous as trying to bang out the long drives. Even the best players miss greens so if you cannot chip the ball around the green, you will not be able to ever score very well. The short game of golf is where you really need to practice, so check out the following 3 tips:

1. Any time that you can hit a low shit that runs the ball up to the hole as opposed to flying it all of the way there, do it. This gives you more room for error and percentage-wise you will get you closer to the hole for the next shot, unless you make the chip shot! Do not be scared to use an eight, seven or even a five iron to get the distance that you need.

2. Hold your finish until the ball has stopped rolling. Use this time to monitor your balance and evaluate the shot.

3. Know without a doubt where you would like the ball to land. If you claim to have trouble visualizing shots then explain where you want to land it out loud. This will accomplish the same thing.

Implement these golf tips into your game and you will see your scores go down and you will have something to talk about in the locker room!

Achieving Greater Distance off the Tee

by Rich Ruzic

Golf tips get thrown our way on a daily basis. Never have so many "top secret" and highly regarded bits of information been thrown about so randomly. We are all as good as the last great visual lesson we got form our favorite magazine or The Golf Channel. We make our mental notes and can't wait to get to that first tee to work on our new reputation as a scratch golfer only to watch our dreams come crashing down as our ball goes sailing off course.

As weekend golfers, none of us have the exact same swing or needs. As a matter of fact most golfers do not have the same swing from day to day, so it is impossible to generalize any real tips that can be used for all golfers across the board. Thus we all end up with a mind full of useless information that we somehow try to process all at once during every swing. Certainly, this is where the mental side of golf comes in and our need to keep an uncluttered mind during our shot routine. There have been several hundred books written on that topic alone and certainly not enough room to get into that here. We will go there later.

There are however a few items that all golfers can improve to help their game overall. One of those key items is our midsection. As much as we don't like to admit it, we all need work on our core. This is one tip every golfer can use to add distance and accuracy day in and day out. The more work we allow our core to do in our swing the more stable we become. This allows for a flexible backswing, a stronger coil and shoulder turn, a powerful downswing and a controlled follow through. Find abdominal and lower back exercises that work for your particular body style. This too can't be generalized because everyone has different needs. Just remember strength as well as flexibility. Work on your core to truly work on distance and accuracy.

Here's a golf swing training tip that will help your backswing range of motion, enabling you to have a much higher clubhead speed and quickly improve your driving distance.

I call it the Backswing Shoulder Stretch:
* Extend left arm out in front of you (if you are a right handed golfer), in a handshake position, thumb pointing skyward.
*Take right hand and put under left wrist, so the back of the hands are touching each other.
* Pull with right hand against left wrist and make as big a turn on back swing as possible.
* Hold for at least 15 seconds, repeat two more times.
* Reverse the stretch to work the follow through.
As you can see this is a simple golf training tip, but one that is very effective if you do it consistently. This is a great stretch to do throughout your round to maintain a full backswing.
